For over a decade, ask anyone in the indie music world what they know about Duluth, MN and their answer, undoubtedly, would reference Alan Sparhawk or his band Low. Alan and his wife, Mimi, have toured around the world sharing their music, but they’ve also quietly (no pun intended) acted as unofficial Duluth music spokespeople. Having not only released more than a dozen studio albums of his own, Sparhawk also found time to create his own label, Chairkickers, to help get Duluth music out to the masses. Alan can still be found on his nights off tour lurking near the back of our local venues and keeping tabs on the evolution of Duluth music.
